Get Emotional (Yes, Really). Here’s Why…

I used to be an expert in the "emotional brush-off."

A Master’s degree in Engineering and years of consulting had rewired my brain to worship logic and dismiss everything else.

The heaviness in my chest when I said yes to things I wanted to say no to? Ignore it.

The excitement bubbling up about a new idea? Better play it cool.

The soul-destroying feeling of sitting through yet another uninspiring meeting? Just deal with it.

Sound familiar?

We've all done it - tucked our feelings away in a box labeled "Deal With Later" and buried it deep underground.

But here's what I learned the hard way: Those feelings aren’t just random emotional clutter. They're more like unopened letters from yourself, each containing an important message you’re too afraid to read.

They’re guidance, like a sat-nav trying to redirect you when you're off course.

Yet we bury them, thinking we’re saving precious mental bandwidth for "more important" logical thinking. The irony? The more we suppress our emotions, the harder it becomes to think clearly.

This is not just personal experience talking. Studies, like this one, show that suppressing emotions actually increases cognitive load, making it harder to think rationally.

The sooner you realise this, the better: Emotions aren’t the enemy of progress. They’re the fuel for it.

When we learn to listen to our emotions instead of burying them, something magical happens. That constant background anxiety starts to fade. Decision-making becomes clearer.

It’s like finally turning on the lights in a room you've been fumbling around in for years.

By the way, this isn’t about drowning in feelings or letting emotions run the show. It’s about finding that sweet spot where you can feel fully and think clearly. Where emotions become allies, not obstacles.

If you’re ready for your emotional reset, ALYV is here to guide you. With music-only sessions that take just five minutes, the ALYV approach is designed to fit seamlessly into your life… and transform it.

Because here’s the truth: You weren’t meant to live life at half-volume.

Your emotions – all of them – are part of your story. And it's time to start listening.
